National Tooth Fairy Day is August 22nd. If you have young children at home, you know that losing a baby tooth is a very big deal! Whether it’s the anticipation of waiting for that first wiggly tooth to fall out or the mesmerizing tenacity of that fourth or fifth tooth that just – does – not- want – to – go, each tooth has a story. And that story usually has a happy ending brought to you by a magical creature who – cough, cough – somehow makes teeth turn into treasures. We call her the Tooth Fairy!
If you enjoy the fun of surprising your favorite tooth-shedder with visits from the Tooth Fairy, we thought you might enjoy these other ideas to keep the magic going.
Treasure Box
Share with your child a special dish, container or decorative little box to use to place their tooth in for the Tooth Fairy’s nighttime visit. You can even buy little pillows especially made for her nocturnal visits! Sometimes those tiny little teeth can slip from under sleeping heads so having a little container for a bedside table might be a nice way to go. Why not make it a little easier for the Tooth Fairy to find in the dark. 🙂
Fairy Notes
Maybe your Tooth Fairy doesn’t give out cash or maybe a nice little note to encourage brushing might be the way to go. In either case, a personalized certificate with the child’s name and date of tooth loss is a fun keepsake. A message reminding your child to be sure to brush or congratulating them on doing a good job taking care of their teeth could be a fun addition. This certificate courtesy of the American Dental Association is a fun starting point.
Having a little fun while you celebrate good dental health can be a great way for kids to remember the importance of taking care of your teeth.
