Halloween is synonymous with creative costumes, chilling decorations, spooky stories and CANDY… so much CANDY! Americans love Halloween, spending an estimated $8.4 billion on the holiday in 2016 – $2.5 billion of that spent on candy alone. With so much candy being passed out to trick or treaters and partygoers over the Halloween season, sometimes too much of a good thing is, well, too much. As with many things, moderation is key. As well as being an overall consideration for your child’s health due to the empty calories, candy can promote tooth decay and damage to teeth and braces. This Halloween, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Family Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry and receive $1 per pound. Dr. Mansour, DDS has joined the movement to reduce gingivitis and anti-decay by giving away dollars, toothbrushes and local favors in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.

Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well. The practice chose to participate in the Halloween Candy Buyback help parents that want to limit the amount of damage that can be done to their children’s teeth. We want to encourage and teach preventative care not just last ditch efforts to save a smile,” says Dr Mansour, DDS. Candy will be collected on the following days:

  • Wednesday, November 1 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 2  7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Friday, November 3 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The candy will then be sent to our troops in time for the holidays. Each child is eligible to receive $1 per pound up to ten (10) pounds for all unopened, uneaten candy. Plus, we will provide paper and writing utensils and coloring tools for anyone that would like to create a letter or draw a picture for our service members. The importance of healthy eating and great dental hygiene are key elements of your child’s  overall health.  Call (248) 852-3130 for more information. Americans Spending Halloween
