The start of the new school year is here and with it come all of the after-school activities that kids are involved in today. As you sign your child up for their favorite activity, also remember to have the appropriate gear and safety precautions considered to keep their body AND their teeth safe.
Mouth Guards
Mouth guards are standard protection for teeth for so many contact sports like hockey, football and soccer. You can have a customized mouth guard made to fit your child or go with the one-size-fits-all option. Both offer protection for sports that involve balls, bats and other kids bumping into your child’s mouth. The cost of replacing a lost tooth is roughly 20 times more than the cost of a custom-fitted mouth guard so protection is also cost-effective!
Helmets
Helmets are great for both contact and solo sports such as skiing and cycling. Whether with our without an additional face guard, helmets provide not only protection to your child’s head but also provide some buffer for their mouth.
The right gear, for performance and protection, is important for any activity your child is involved this year. Remember to protect their teeth and you’ll save your child – and your wallet – some pain.
