CEREC, crowns, one-visit crowns, family dentist, pediatric dentistry, rochester hills, oakland county, metro detroit, dentist, dental clinic

From simple fillings to full crowns and veneers, CEREC delivers the results you need in a single appointment.

CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic. The technology can take high-resolution 3D images of your prepared teeth to create a digital impression to manufacture a crown in the dental office while you wait. The procedure takes a little more than one hour.

The preparation of the tooth is first imaged and stored as a three-dimensional digital model. Software is then used to approximate the restoration shape using biogeneric comparisons to surrounding teeth. Dr. Mansour then refines that model using 3D CAD software. When the design phase is complete, the information is sent wirelessly to the milling unit which mills the actual restoration from a solid block of material using diamond burs. The restoration is bonded to the tooth using a resin cement which bonds to both the restoration as well as the tooth itself.

Benefits of CEREC

Speed. It used to take weeks to send plaster impressions to a manufacturer and then get them back for a fitting. It takes Dr. Mansour a little over an hour to input the specific information on your teeth into the computer and mill your crown.

Precision and accuracy. Because the images taken of your teeth are done at the microscopic level, the digital images are incredibly precise. The data input by Dr. Mansour is done with the exact same level of precision. This enables the crown or onlay to be milled as accurately as possible.

The ceramic material used to create your crown or onlay expands and contracts as your natural teeth do. Because of this, there is no danger of cracking. Furthermore, they are neither too hard nor too soft. There is no undue wear and you will not need to replace them time and again as you might with older crown or filling technology. They also look like your natural teeth.

One of the most important advances with using CEREC is the fact that ceramic crowns and fillings have replaced mercury and other toxic metals. By removing these metals from your mouth, the potential harm they cause has been eliminated.

We are pleased to offer our patients CEREC restoration services – a superior method of creating precisely designed, color-matched and highly durable ceramic restorations right in our practice.
